As soon as you step foot in Italy you are immediately struck by the rhythm of the Italian day. It is inherently different than a normal day in America. In Italy you eat different foods and at different times than in the United States. Life seems more tranquil and the day seems longer. No matter what part of Italy you are in, you will find every Italian puts great emphasis on the food they eat. Freshness, quality and natural ingredients are essentials in the Italian diet. During all my years in Italy, I learned that incorporating these values into what we eat on a daily basis makes each individual not only healthier but gives greater enjoyment, greater pleasure to our meals. Simple and elegant fresh food are the hallmarks of meals in Italy and these are the products I bring to you. By enjoying them, using them, incorporating them into your life you will begin to live the Italian way and make every day an Italian day.
Italians begin their morning by taking the time to indulge in a creamy, frothy cappuccino. Just by setting aside time in the morning, to enjoy a cappuccino slowly, you can change the pace of your entire day.
Lunch time in Italy is sacred. No matter where you work, people take time to enjoy a proper two or three hour interval in the middle of the day, not a 10 minute break munching on a sandwich in front of their computer. This is a perfect example that Italians work to live. They don't live to work. As a result, their day is longer, more relaxed, and more enjoyable. Lunch time becomes a social time as well, where conversation and time with colleagues or family makes meal time more relaxed and enjoyable.
Perhaps the greatest secret of the Italian lifestyle is the "passeggiata". This is a leisurely stroll taken after pranzo (lunch), which not only helps the digestion of your midday meal but also is a social event. No self respecting Italian spends hours in a stale gym. Instead, rain or shine, they take a walk outside. So set aside 10 minutes after lunch and take a leisurely stroll wherever you find yourself.
The evening meal is a ritual in Italy. Although lighter in content than lunch, it is a time to gather together around the dinner table with your family and discuss the events of the day. The family dinner not only creates your most cherished memories, but contributes to better nutrition for your children, improved language skills for them, and contributes to family bonding which is irreplaceable.
